Karachi to See Multiple New Bridges and Flyovers

Mayor Murtaza Wahab on Wednesday inaugurated the construction of a Rs1.6 billion flyover on Khalid bin Waleed Road in Malir, designed to link the National Highway with Mehran Highway. Accompanied by local representatives, he announced that the four-lane project would be completed within a year, benefiting millions of commuters.

Speaking at the ceremony, Wahab stated that the new flyover would alleviate congestion and reduce accidents at the railway crossing near Cattle Colony. He added that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) remained committed to upgrading Karachi’s infrastructure and ensuring safer, modern road networks.

The mayor also announced additional development schemes, including a bridge at Azeempura and a four-lane structure near Quaidabad, while dismissing criticism of the city’s projects as “baseless propaganda.”

Calling on opposition parties such as the MQM and Jamaat-e-Islami, Wahab urged political unity in pressuring the federal government to release funds for vital initiatives like the K-IV water project.

Reaffirming his administration’s focus on service delivery, Wahab said his government was determined to finish ongoing development work and provide lasting relief to the residents of Karachi.
