Additional Director General of Excise Rizwan Sherwani has announced that citizens will no longer need to physically bring their vehicles to excise offices for inspection. Under the new procedure, applicants registering or transferring a vehicle will only be required to upload photos of the vehicle’s front, rear, and chassis.
Sherwani explained that once the images are uploaded, the case will automatically be forwarded to the inspector and ETO for review and approval. Previously, hundreds of vehicles had to undergo in-person inspection at excise offices daily, but the updated process aims to make the experience faster and more convenient for the public.
He further shared that all number plates can now be reserved in advance. For this purpose, an advanced PSID will be generated for applicants to secure their desired number.
Acknowledging challenges faced since the new system was rolled out on September 1, the Additional DG said that a dedicated IT team has been formed to resolve the initial technical glitches.
