Indian Pacer Breaks Haris Rauf’s T20I Record

Indian left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has etched his name into the record books after helping his team reach the Super Fours stage of the Asia Cup undefeated.

Playing his first game of the tournament against Oman, the left-armer took one wicket from his quota of four overs, but that single scalp was enough for him to surpass Haris Rauf in the history books.

Arshdeep Singh has now become the third-fastest bowler to take 100 T20I wickets and the fastest pacer to achieve this feat among Full Member nations. His landmark moment arrived when he dismissed Vinayak Shukla for just one run, sealing his 100th scalp in only his 64th match — faster than Rauf’s 71-match mark. The 26-year-old also became the first Indian bowler to reach the century mark in T20Is, boasting an average of 18.49, an economy rate of 8.31, and best figures of 4/9.

Rashid Khan remains the outright leader, followed by Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga.

Fastest to 100 T20I Wickets (Full Member Teams)

Rank Player Matches to 100 Wickets
1 Rashid Khan 53
2 Wanindu Hasaranga 63
3 Arshdeep Singh 64
4 Haris Rauf 71
5 Mark Adair 72

Arshdeep Singh now leads India’s T20I wicket charts, edging past Hardik Pandya and Yuzvendra Chahal (both on 96), with Jasprit Bumrah trailing at 92. Both he and Haris Rauf have had to wait their turn at the Asia Cup, but with the Super Fours clash between the two on the horizon, they could be competing in the same arena tomorrow.

Although he may find another Asia Cup game hard to come by, the spotlight, for now, belongs to the 26-year-old left-armer who continues to redefine India’s fast-bowling legacy, one wicket at a time.
