However, amid swirling rumors on social media and in some sections of the local press, the Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation has firmly denied reports suggesting that the 85-year-old has been appointed as its head.
Federation officials, including President Tariq Hassan and Secretary Sohail Anwar, clarified that the organization does not have a chairman post in its structure, and Chaudhry Shujaat has not accepted any formal role. The clarification came following a meeting between the federation’s leadership and the veteran politician, which had sparked speculation about his involvement.
During the meeting, the delegation briefed Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on the federation’s recent achievements, including the impressive haul of five gold medals at an international bodybuilding competition, and discussed financial challenges facing the sport. In response, Chaudhry Shujaat extended his moral support and congratulated the athletes on their success.
In a gesture that reflects his longstanding commitment to promoting sports in Pakistan, he invited the gold medal-winning bodybuilders to a celebratory dinner, acknowledging their hard work and international recognition.
The federation emphasized that while Chaudhry Shujaat’s patronage is welcomed and appreciated, it should not be misconstrued as an official appointment. His support, they noted, is consistent with his history of aiding sports initiatives without holding formal titles.
With the record set straight, the focus now returns to the athletes, whose achievements continue to bring pride to Pakistan’s sporting community.
