UAE Court Rejects Bride’s Claim Against Wedding Planner

An Abu Dhabi commercial court has thrown out a lawsuit filed by a bride who sought the return of Dh11,800 from a wedding planning firm after cancelling her ceremony due to personal reasons. She had also demanded Dh20,000 in compensation on top of the refund.

Court’s Findings

The judges ruled that there was no binding contract between the woman and the company in question, pointing out that the agreement she submitted as evidence was made with a different individual who was not involved in the case.

The court further noted that money transfer slips only confirm the movement of funds and do not in themselves prove a debt or liability. In addition, the plaintiff was unable to provide documents demonstrating any contractual or legal responsibility on the part of the defendants.

Based on these findings, the court dismissed the claim and ordered the bride to pay the court fees and related costs.
