The CM Free Wi-Fi Service has been expanded across Punjab. According to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), the network now covers 442 locations in Lahore alone, where more than 58 million users have used approximately 1191 terabytes of data.
In addition to Lahore, the service is active in 23 districts of Punjab, providing free internet at 952 public sites. These include key urban centers and important public locations where residents frequently require internet access.
The government has also announced the rollout of free Wi-Fi in 450 women’s government colleges across Punjab. Officials explained that the service in colleges is intended to improve access to educational resources, enhance safety for female students, and ensure they can reach emergency services without delay.
Recent upgrades also include the deployment of Wi-Fi 6 technology, which offers faster speeds, reduced delays, and better performance in crowded areas.
Authorities have clarified that the free Wi-Fi service is primarily for essential and emergency use, such as education, communication, and access to government services. It is not designed for video streaming or entertainment purposes. Content filtering and usage management tools have been implemented to ensure responsible network use.
By extending internet access to urban centers, public areas, and educational institutions, the government aims to reduce the digital divide, support learning, and strengthen public safety infrastructure.

As per that , only federal capital is providing wifi at 40% speed at 20 mbps.
Rest barely 10 mbps. So this free wifi is not even 10% of this . It’s slow thanks to the firewall.
i used this in bazar in less developed district, where the speed was like 400 kpbs downloading, that’s is enough for doing like WhatsApp call or downloading some important to do little work or communication, and i know that firewall has affected internet, then what is your say on this thing, is not every country using firewall type thing to do surveillance on citizens, they didn’t tell that is the difference
oh wow, it will work miserably just like it does at the airports and moreover the surveillance will throttle it further so in the end it will be as useless as themselves.
