Oxford Introduces New O-Level Syllabus for Pakistani Students

To provide Pakistani students with updated and locally relevant education for their O-Level (IGCSE) exams, Oxford has launched three new mandatory subject specifications: Islamiyat, Pakistan Studies, and Urdu.

The new curricula are designed with a clear assessment framework that emphasizes critical thinking, analytical skills, and exam preparation. The syllabi cover Pakistan’s history, geography, Islamic teachings and traditions, along with the richness of the Urdu language and literature.

According to Oxford, the updated content has been carefully structured in simple, clear language while also linking to global developments and Pakistan’s role in the international arena.

She also introduced textbooks for Islamiyat, Urdu, and Pakistan Studies, which have been aligned with the new syllabi. The books have been authored by Nighat Gaya Bajwa (Islamiyat), Dr. Faizuddin Ahmed (Urdu), and Nigel Smith (Pakistan Studies), who also addressed the event.
