The Sindh government has decided to withdraw federal control over development projects in the province.
In a formal letter, the provincial authorities directed the Pakistan Infrastructure Development Company Limited (PIDCL) to halt work on Sindh’s development schemes.
According to the letter, the decision was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on September 26, which reviewed PIDCL’s role in the province.
The letter declared PIDCL’s involvement in urban package projects unlawful, stating that the company should only focus on completing former Pak-WAPDA schemes.
It further clarified that the Karachi and Hyderabad urban development packages do not fall within PIDCL’s jurisdiction, and the company must avoid overstepping the agreed framework defined between the federal and Sindh governments.
