Weather Department Predicts Rain in Karachi

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall in parts of Karachi on September 30. The city is also expected to see temperatures rise to 38°C on Monday.

According to the weather department, rain and dust storms are likely in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Badin, Sujawal, Thatta, Tando Mohammad Khan, and Hyderabad. Isolated rainfall is also expected in Jamshoro, Matiari, Mirpurkhas, and Sanghar between September 29 and 30.

Karachi had earlier witnessed light rain and drizzle on September 16 in areas such as II Chundrigar Road, Saddar, and Garden. The showers were caused by moist winds and sea clouds from the Arabian Sea.

The update follows heavy rains from September 8 to 10 that left several areas of Karachi flooded. Overflowing rivers, including the Lyari and Malir, inundated low-lying neighborhoods, displacing hundreds of residents.

Water entered houses in some areas, forcing families to move to safer places. Several deaths were also reported, including drownings in the Gadap River.

The PMD has advised citizens, especially those in flood-prone localities, to remain alert.
