The Punjab Education Department has issued a strict warning to all teachers and school heads, reminding them that corporal punishment in any form is completely banned across the province.
According to a notification from the District Education Authority Mandi Bahauddin, any act of physical or emotional abuse towards students will be considered a serious violation of conduct. Such cases will be dealt with under the PEEDA Act 2006, and strict disciplinary action will be taken against violators.
The circular directed all heads of institutions to:
- Train their staff on a zero-tolerance policy regarding corporal punishment.
- Ensure a child-friendly, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
- Immediately report any incidents of abuse along with corrective measures.
Officials further emphasized that non-compliance will result in disciplinary proceedings. The education authority reaffirmed its commitment to providing students with a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment.
