PDWP Approves Rs. 8 Billion Development Projects in Punjab

The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) on Wednesday approved three development schemes and two position papers, with a combined estimated cost of around Rs. 8 billion, covering the roads, labour & human resources, and health and population sectors.

According to details, the PDWP cleared the rehabilitation and widening of a 19.5-kilometre road from Satghara to Gogera via Jaboka in tehsil and district Okara, at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.315 billion.

Another scheme approved was the construction of a bypass from Royal Hotel (N-5) to Sarwar Chowk via Adda Mai Wali Masjid in Sahiwal. The revised project, stretching 13.7 kilometres, is estimated to cost Rs. 1.989 billion.

The PDWP also gave approval to the construction of a 24.15-kilometre dual carriageway from Sheikh Fazal to Chichawatni, another revised project in Sahiwal, at an estimated cost of Rs4.596 billion.

In addition to the road projects, the PDWP approved a pilot project position paper for establishing an occupational safety and health laboratory in Faisalabad.

It also sanctioned the establishment of a Rescue station at Chowk Marlay, with key points at Purana Thana and Qaboola in Pakpattan district, under a position paper for vehicles.
