The Punjab government has released Rs. 2 billion for the Crime Control Department (CCD) to enhance its capacity with modern vehicles and new infrastructure in sensitive districts.
According to officials, the first phase of funding will focus on the purchase of bulletproof and double-cabin vehicles, armored carriers, and high-roof vans for operations in high-risk areas. A second phase is expected to extend similar resources to “B category” districts, with further budget allocations planned.
In addition to vehicle procurement, a survey has been launched to identify sites for the construction of CCD offices and police stations. Sources said reports are being prepared for new buildings in cities including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, and Multan.
The CCD has requested the establishment of 40 offices, 38 police stations, and six residential complexes to improve operational reach and support facilities. Police sources estimate that construction alone could cost around Rs11 billion.
