Leaked images circulating online suggest that Master Changan Motors may be preparing to introduce a new Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) pickup truck in Pakistan. The vehicle in question appears to be the Deepal K50 Hunter, a hybrid pickup already available in select international markets.
The photo shows the K50 parked near a port area, surrounded by shipping containers and heavy trucks, indicating that the unit might have recently arrived in Pakistan for testing or initial evaluation.
The Deepal K50 Hunter uses a range-extended electric drivetrain, functioning similarly to a plug-in hybrid but with a key difference: the electric motors drive the wheels, while the 2,000cc internal combustion engine works solely as a generator to recharge the 31.8 kWh battery. Combined, the system produces 268 horsepower and 472 Nm of torque.
Although specifications for Pakistan have not been confirmed, the truck’s international setup suggests a focus on fuel efficiency and low emissions, aligning with the growing local interest in hybrid and electric vehicles.
If launched, the Deepal K50 Hunter would compete directly with the BYD Shark 6, another Chinese hybrid pickup expected to enter Pakistan soon. Both models target buyers seeking alternative powertrains in the light commercial and utility vehicle segment.
Pricing and launch details have not yet been disclosed, and Deepal has made no official announcement regarding a local debut. However, the recent appearance of the K50 strongly hints that Pakistan’s pickup market may soon see its first hybrid contender, marking a significant shift toward electrification in the utility segment.
