The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has shut down Al Suweidaa Modern Bakery in Al Ain after a confirmed food poisoning case was traced back to the establishment.
Located in the Al Maqam district and operating under licence number CN-1102470, the bakery was found in violation of Abu Dhabi’s Law No. (2) of 2008 on food safety and related regulations. ADAFSA said the infractions posed a serious threat to public health.
Following a detailed investigation, inspectors discovered improper food handling, storage, and preparation practices that led to the contamination. The authority said the administrative closure was necessary to safeguard consumers’ well-being and would remain in effect until all violations are corrected.
The bakery will be allowed to reopen only after meeting Abu Dhabi’s stringent food safety standards and demonstrating full compliance during reinspection.
ADAFSA emphasized that Abu Dhabi maintains one of the most advanced food safety systems in the region, supported by continuous inspections, laboratory testing, and round-the-clock monitoring to protect public health and ensure trust in the food supply chain.
The authority urged residents to report any food safety concerns by calling the hotline 800 555, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that food across the emirate remains safe and fit for consumption.
