The UAE is set to roll out a fleet of intelligent inspection vehicles capable of identifying residency and visa violators using advanced artificial intelligence systems. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) unveiled the innovation at GITEX Global 2025, taking place from October 13 to 17 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The new ICP Inspection Car serves as a mobile AI-driven surveillance unit designed for real-time monitoring and data analysis. It is a fully electric vehicle with a range of 680 kilometres, running on clean energy to ensure environmental sustainability while maintaining operational performance across the UAE’s diverse terrain.
The initiative seeks to modernise inspection procedures by enabling officers to handle visa and residency violations instantly and securely, reducing reliance on traditional manual checks. Equipped with six high-resolution cameras, the vehicle provides 360-degree coverage with visual monitoring extending up to 10 metres in all directions.
Its system is designed to perform effectively under all weather and lighting conditions — including night-time, dust storms, and high temperatures — ensuring uninterrupted functionality in the UAE’s climate.
Inside the vehicle, inspectors can access digital dashboards displaying instant results. Facial recognition technology processes live camera footage within seconds, using AI algorithms to match faces against the national database.
When a match is detected, the system issues an immediate alert, allowing officers to take swift action. The secure dashboard is directly connected to ICP’s databases, ensuring data accuracy and rapid decision-making.
Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director-General of ICP, described the initiative as a “revolutionary step in field inspection methods.” He said, “Our goal is to empower inspection teams with smart tools to manage violations quickly, safely, and efficiently, while enhancing the UAE’s overall readiness and response capabilities.”
The ICP also introduced four AI-based projects aimed at improving efficiency and public service quality:
Major General Al Khaili emphasised that these initiatives reflect the UAE’s vision for a tech-driven governance ecosystem. “Each project represents a step toward smarter, faster, and more proactive public services — developed entirely by Emirati talent,” he noted.
With innovations like the AI inspection vehicle, the UAE continues to reinforce its leadership in smart governance, integrating technology to strengthen security, sustainability, and citizen well-being.
