The Ministry of Interior has announced that UAE authorities will participate in a large-scale international emergency drill titled “IOWAVE25 – Indian Ocean Tsunami Simulation Exercise” on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
The exercise will be held at Qidfa Beach in Fujairah, beginning at 10:00 a.m., and will simulate a full-scale emergency response to a potential tsunami event.

The drill will include the deployment of emergency response teams, vehicle movements, and evacuation procedures, designed to test coordination between national and local agencies in handling tsunami-related scenarios.
Officials stated that the objective of the exercise is to enhance disaster readiness, improve inter-agency coordination, and ensure the protection of residents and visitors in coastal areas.
The Ministry of Interior underscored that the initiative is a proactive safety measure, aimed at strengthening national resilience and public preparedness. Authorities also urged the public to follow official safety instructions and cooperate with on-ground teams during the simulation.
