Two donkeys from Lincolnshire, England, have made it into the Guinness World Records 2026 for their unique traits. The two record holders, Derrick and Bambou, living at the Radcliffe Donkey Sanctuary in Huttoft, hold the titles of the tallest living donkey and the longest ears ever recorded on a donkey, respectively.
Standing at 167 cm (5 ft 5 in), Derrick is a giant who towers over most donkeys. His height surpasses the average for his breed by nearly 20 cm. Derrick’s breed, the American Mammoth Jackstock, is known for its large size, and he’s even taller than the previous record holder from Texas.
Next to Derrick lives Bambou, a Poitou donkey with ears measuring 35 cm (1 ft 1 in)—the longest ever seen on a donkey. His fluffy ears make him a visitor favorite at the sanctuary.
The Radcliffe Donkey Sanctuary, founded in 1999 by Tracy and Steve Garton, is home to dozens of rescued animals, including donkeys, mules, and even zebra hybrids. The non-profit organization relies on public donations and adoption programs to cover food, veterinary care, and maintenance costs.
Sanctuary staff say they’re thrilled to have two Guinness World Record holders under their care. They hope the recognition will attract more visitors and raise awareness about the sanctuary’s work. “Seeing our donkeys in the Guinness World Records book is fantastic,” the team said. “We’re excited to welcome more visitors and are always grateful for their kindness and support.”
