On the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Green Electric Bus Service was inaugurated in Muzaffargarh to provide residents with safe and eco-friendly public transport.
Provincial Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan and Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education Sardar Ajmal Khan Chandia inaugurated the service during a ceremony held at the Muzaffargarh Sports Ground.
In the first phase, 12 electric buses will operate on four routes across the city, with a fare of Rs. 20. Students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities will travel free of cost.
According to officials, the air-conditioned buses are equipped with CCTV cameras and mobile charging ports for passenger safety and convenience. The service will be expanded to suburban areas in the next phase to promote green mobility and curb environmental pollution.
The initiative is part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision to modernize Punjab’s public transport network and make it more accessible, affordable, and environmentally sustainable.
