National Cybercrime Investigation Agency’s Senior Officer Kidnapped From Islamabad

Unknown armed men abducted Muhammad Usman, Deputy Director of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, from a residential parking area in Islamabad, police confirmed on Saturday.

According to Islamabad Police, the officer was taken from the parking lot of Zara Heights, where four armed men intercepted his vehicle and forcibly dragged him away at gunpoint.

Police said the incident occurred between 7pm and 8pm on October 14, and CCTV footage has surfaced showing the abduction. A case has been registered at Shams Colony Police Station on the complaint of the victim’s wife. However, investigators have yet to make any arrests or secure a breakthrough.

The brazen kidnapping has stoked concerns over the safety of senior civil officers in the capital.

Previous Abduction Case Still Pending

The incident comes just weeks after the abduction of Assistant Commissioner Ziarat Muhammad Afzal and his son Mustansar Bilal on August 10 from Zezri, Balochistan. Mustansar Bilal was recovered a day earlier from a mountainous region of Harnai, but his father remains missing.

The abductors had earlier released a video of the Assistant Commissioner and his son, urging authorities to meet their demands. In response, the Balochistan government announced a reward of Rs50 million for information leading to the kidnappers.

Search and rescue efforts for Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Afzal are ongoing, according to local administration officials.

Police in Islamabad said efforts are underway to trace Muhammad Usman’s whereabouts and identify the group behind the latest kidnapping. Authorities have not yet linked the two cases, but officials admit the back-to-back incidents raise serious security questions.
