PMS Applicants Protest ‘Discriminatory’ Increase in Passing Marks

Candidates appearing for various positions under the Provincial Management Service (PMS) have urged Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to take notice of the sudden increase in the passing marks for the Public Service Commission screening test.

Speaking at a press conference at the Bara Press Club on Friday, the aspirants said that just days before the exam, the passing threshold was raised from 40 percent to 50 percent, a move they described as “unfair and discriminatory.”

They warned that the abrupt change would negatively impact thousands of candidates across the province who had been preparing based on the earlier criteria.

Several candidates, including Bilal Ahmed, Kashmala Wazir, Madiha, Abdul Qayyum Afridi, and Usman Khan, spoke at the press conference, calling on the government to reconsider the decision.

They also demanded that the exams scheduled for November be postponed, citing floods and recent natural disasters in parts of the province that had hindered many students’ preparation efforts.

The candidates appealed to the chief minister to intervene, withdraw the revised passing criteria, and ensure a fair opportunity for all applicants.
