Residents shot and killed a leopard after the animal emerged from the nearby forest and entered the Jeelad Sami Khurd neighbourhood of Union Council Chapar in Wari tehsil of Upper Dir district in KP, Express News reported.
The wild cat suddenly left the forest and entered the settlement, sparking panic among locals, the news outlet said. People opened fire when they saw the animal, and the leopard died at the scene.
Several residents recorded video and took photographs of the dead leopard, and those images quickly spread across social media.
The episode highlights growing tensions between communities living beside forested areas and wildlife, and the viral footage has renewed calls for improved monitoring and faster response by wildlife authorities to prevent similar incidents.
