PRA Cracks Down on Hotels and Restaurants Over Tax Invoice Violations

The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has ramped up its tax awareness and enforcement campaign across major cities, targeting hotels and restaurants in Lahore, Gujranwala, and Multan.

According to a PRA spokesperson, inspection teams imposed fines on several businesses for failing to issue sales tax invoices and for not using the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (E-IMS).

In addition to fines, warning notices were served to businesses found non-compliant with E-IMS regulations. The campaign aims to boost tax compliance and ensure proper documentation of sales.

Meanwhile, PRA officials held a meeting at the Commissioner’s office in Multan with representatives of the Marriage Halls and Marquees Association. The session focused on the implementation of E-IMS and the importance of timely tax payments. Registration procedures for newly established businesses were also discussed.

Association members pledged their cooperation with the PRA but expressed concerns about declining business activity in the wake of recent flooding. The PRA assured stakeholders of continued support and emphasized the need for collective efforts to strengthen tax compliance in the province.
