Punjab Awards Driving License Manufacturing Contract to New Company

The Punjab government has finalized a new contract for the delivery and quality of driving license cards, replacing the current arrangement, which is set to expire on November 1.

According to traffic department officials, over 350,000 license cards are issued daily across the province. The new contract has been awarded to Red Apple, which will now be responsible for producing and delivering the cards for the next three years.

Red Apple secured the deal by offering a lower rate of Rs. 51 per card, compared to the current cost of Rs. 57.

Only two companies participated in the tender, with Red Apple selected based on its pricing and production capacity.

Officials said the company has the ability to produce more than 30,000 cards per day. With increased focus on licensing, the number of daily issued cards is expected to rise from the current 15,000–20,000 to as many as 25,000.

Authorities have also emphasized the importance of quality and timely issuance of the cards under the new agreement.
