Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) conducted a large-scale operation early morning under the supervision of Director Dr. Tahira Siddique, inspecting milk supply vehicles across the federal capital. During the operation, a total of 10,890 liters of milk was checked, out of which 2,340 liters were found adulterated and immediately destroyed on the spot.
According to officials, 20 milk carriers were inspected at the N-5 Metro Station No. 26 checkpoint. Out of these, 17 vehicles passed the quality test, while three failed to meet the required standards. The IFA imposed fines amounting to Rs118,000 on violators for non-compliance with food safety regulations and for supplying substandard milk.
Deputy Director of the Islamabad Food Authority stated that the operation was carried out under the directives of the Director General, as part of the authority’s zero-tolerance policy against adulteration. He said that the destroyed milk was found to be contaminated and unfit for human consumption. Strict measures have been taken to prevent the supply of low-quality milk in the federal territory.
Dr. Tahira Siddique emphasized that the supply of adulterated or poor-quality milk poses serious health risks, particularly to children and the elderly. She reiterated that the authority will not tolerate any negligence in ensuring the availability of safe and nutritious milk for consumers.
The Islamabad Food Authority continues its day-and-night inspections to improve milk quality and safeguard public health. Officials affirmed that such surprise checks and enforcement actions will remain ongoing to ensure strict compliance with food safety
