US Fighter Jet and Helicopter Crash in South China Sea

Two US Navy aircraft crashed into the South China Sea in separate incidents on Sunday, officials confirmed. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

According to the US Navy’s Pacific Fleet, the first crash involved an MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter that went down during routine operations from the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz.

All three crew members on board were swiftly rescued by search and rescue teams, the Navy said in a statement.

About 30 minutes later, a Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter jet also crashed into the South China Sea while carrying out routine flight operations from the same aircraft carrier.

The Navy confirmed that both pilots ejected safely and were recovered shortly after. “All personnel involved are safe and in stable condition,” the statement added.

Officials said investigations are underway to determine the causes of both crashes.

The twin incidents occurred as US President Donald Trump continued his first visit to Asia during his second term, while Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth prepared to embark on a multi-country tour of the region.

Earlier this year, two US warplanes also went overboard from the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier while operating in the Middle East, marking a troubling series of naval aviation mishaps.
