A workshop owner allegedly set a 12-year-old child laborer on fire in Lahore’s Gulberg Model Colony. According to police, the boy, identified as Faizan, sustained severe burn injuries and was immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Initial investigations revealed that petrol from a vehicle’s carburetor accidentally spilled on Faizan’s clothes. Upon learning about it, the suspect, identified as Babar, allegedly threw a lit matchstick at the boy, setting him ablaze.
Police have registered a case against Babar on the complaint of the victim’s father, Shah Muhammad, and arrested the accused.
Gulberg Police confirmed that further investigations into the horrifying incident are underway.
In another similar incident earlier this month, a landowner in Shiekhupura threw a young boy into a burning brick kiln after the child asked for a piece of corn. The boy suffered severe burn injuries and was rushed to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, where doctors said his condition was critical.
The child’s mother, who said her family survives by begging, tearfully claimed the landowner showed no mercy. Police have launched an investigation and are working to arrest the suspect involved in the brutal attack.
