Pakistan Railways has withdrawn its recently introduced winter timetable following extensive delays and operational challenges in maintaining train schedules across the country.
According to an official notification, the suspension applies to all key divisions, including Karachi, Sukkur, Multan, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, and Quetta.
The department has instructed that all train services will now operate under the previous timetable, which was in effect from April to October.
Sources inside the ministry said that railway officials and staff failed to ensure punctual operations under the new schedule, leading to widespread disruption.
The introduction of the winter timetable had caused significant train delays, reportedly due to engineering limitations and signal malfunctions, with some routes experiencing hours-long holdups.
The notification added that the winter schedule will remain suspended until technical issues—particularly in the engineering and signaling systems—are resolved. Once these improvements are completed, a revised timetable may be introduced.
