An unexploded missile-like object was found during excavation work at a residential plot in Islamabad’s I-9 sector, prompting an immediate response from security and rescue teams.
According to reports, the object was discovered while workers were digging at Plot No. 381, located within the jurisdiction of the I-9 Police Station.
Authorities were informed soon after the discovery, following which teams from the Bomb Disposal Squad and Rescue 1122 reached the site and cordoned off the area.
The bomb disposal team examined the missile-like object and completed the required safety procedures. Officials later declared the area safe and said there was no remaining threat to the public.
The object was reportedly found to be inoperative and was later handed over to security institutions for further examination.
Authorities have also started an investigation to determine how the missile ended up at the site. Officials are looking into its origin, type, and whether it was live at any stage or had been discarded earlier.
