Karachi Traffic Police have issued more than 26,155 e-challans in just six days for various traffic rule violations across the city.
According to a report, 3,283 additional electronic challans were issued within the last 24 hours under the modern, automated, and faceless e-ticketing system introduced by Karachi Traffic Police.
From Friday midnight to Saturday midnight, the breakdown of violations included:
- 1,992 challans for not wearing seatbelts
- 761 challans for riding motorcycles without helmets
- 119 challans for running red lights
- 87 challans for using mobile phones while driving
- 104 challans for overspeeding
- 71 challans for tinted windows
- 26 challans for parking violations
- 14 challans for driving in the wrong direction
- 10 challans for overloading
- 2 challans for carrying excessive weight
Additionally, the police issued:
- 58 challans for allowing passengers to sit on bus roofs
- 28 challans for stop-line violations
- 2 challans for driving the wrong way on one-way streets
Interestingly, no challans were issued for unpaid taxes or the use of fancy number plates during the same period.
