South Africa Confirm Replacement for Dewald Brevis in Pakistan ODIs

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced a replacement for the injured Dewald Brevis, with uncapped Rubin Hermann called up for the remainder of the ODI series against Pakistan.

Brevis was earlier ruled out of the three-match series due to a shoulder injury.

This change comes as South Africa aim to overturn a 1-0 deficit in the series, following a nail-biting loss to Pakistan in the opening match by just two wickets. The team felt Brevis’ absence, struggling to capitalize on a challenging pitch, with a lack of runs from the lower middle order ultimately proving costly.

Rubin Hermann now enters the fray, poised to make his ODI debut. The 28-year-old boasts an impressive domestic record, having scored 1,699 runs in 41 List A matches at an average of 49.97 — including six centuries and six fifties. His numbers reflect both consistency and intent. Hermann has already featured in six T20Is for South Africa, which should ease his transition into the ODI format.

The second ODI between Pakistan and South Africa is scheduled for today. The hosts have a chance to seal the series with a win, while the visitors will be eager to push the contest into a decider after fighting until the final moments in the first game.

All eyes will be on the team sheets to see whether Rubin Hermann finally makes his ODI bow on the international stage.
