Nubia has expanded its latest flagship, the Z80 Ultra, to global markets following its initial debut in China on October 22. The smartphone arrives with top-tier hardware, a massive battery, and a notch-free design that highlights the company’s focus on immersive visuals and advanced engineering.
Design and Display
The Nubia Z80 Ultra features a 6.85-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,216 x 2,688 pixels. The panel supports a 144Hz refresh rate and reaches a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, offering smooth motion and clarity in bright conditions.
Its ultra-slim bezels give the screen an edge-to-edge appearance, and the 16MP front camera is placed beneath the display, removing any notches or punch holes for an uninterrupted viewing experience. The phone comes in Black, White, and Starry Night color options.
Internals and Software
Powering the device is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Elite processor. The Z80 Ultra is offered in configurations of 12GB RAM with 256GB of storage, 16GB RAM with 512GB of storage, and a high-end model featuring 16GB RAM and 1TB of storage. It runs on Nubia’s MyOS, providing users with a clean interface and a customizable Slide key that allows for additional shortcut controls.
The device supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and NFC, and includes an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor integrated into the display. It also features dual stereo speakers with DTS X Ultra technology and five microphones for improved sound pickup and clarity. Connectivity is handled through a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port.
Cameras
The Z80 Ultra carries a triple rear camera setup housed in a redesigned module. The primary sensor is a 50MP camera with an f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilization, accompanied by a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 64MP telephoto periscope lens offering 3x optical zoom. On the front, the 16MP under-display camera handles selfies and video calls without breaking the symmetry of the screen.
Battery and Pricing
One of the standout features of the Nubia Z80 Ultra is its 7,200mAh silicon-carbon battery, capable of 90W wired fast charging and 80W wireless charging, but the international variant was launched with max 80W fast wired charging.
In global markets, the Nubia Z80 Ultra is priced at $649 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, $799 for the 16GB RAM and 512GB model, and $899 for the 16GB RAM and 1TB version. The special Starry Night edition, available only in a 16GB RAM and 512GB configuration, is priced at $829.
