SanDisk has introduced a new compact USB-C flash drive that it claims is the world’s smallest 1TB model. The SanDisk Extreme Fit USB-C Flash Drive is now available in select markets, with the 1TB version priced at $119.99.
The SanDisk Extreme Fit features a plug-and-stay form factor designed for minimal protrusion, making it suitable for devices like the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and USB-C iPad models. The flash drive measures 18.50 x 15.70 x 13.60 mm and weighs just 3 grams, allowing users to leave it attached to their laptops or tablets without affecting portability.
Performance and Features
The drive uses the USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface, offering read speeds of up to 400MB/s across all capacities from 128GB to 1TB. SanDisk notes that while it enables fast file transfers for media and documents, it is not suitable for high-bitrate video capture, such as 4K 120fps ProRes video on iPhones.
The device supports a wide range of systems, including Windows 10 and later, macOS 12 and above, and iPadOS 15 or newer.
SanDisk also offers Memory Zone software for Windows and Mac. The app helps users manage files, schedule automatic backups, and free up space on their main devices. It is included with the purchase of the Extreme Fit drive for added functionality.
Storage Options and Availability
The SanDisk Extreme Fit is available in multiple storage options, including 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. All models come with a five-year limited warranty. The drive is currently on sale via SanDisk’s official website and Amazon in the US.
In related launches, Lexar recently released a 6mm-thin portable SSD with USB-C connectivity, 400MB/s speeds, and up to 1TB capacity. Meanwhile, Corsair introduced the EX300U SSD, which supports speeds of up to 1100MB/s, features MagSafe compatibility, and offers capacities up to 4TB.
