The Punjab government has installed electric vehicle (EV) charging stations near the Department of Archives building inside the Civil Secretariat to support the use of government-owned electric cars.
Officials said the move aims to reduce environmental pollution and encourage the transition towards eco-friendly transportation.
Alongside the installation of chargers, authorities have also approved the construction of a new parking facility behind the Home Department building within the Secretariat premises.
The new parking area is expected to ease congestion and resolve longstanding parking issues faced by employees and visitors at the Civil Secretariat.
Earlier this year, the Lahore Transport Company (LTC) launched an ambitious plan to promote environment-friendly transportation by setting up EV charging stations at 241 locations across the city. The initiative targeted both small and large-scale electric vehicle users, with key spots being identified within major parking areas in Lahore.
