Samsung Galaxy S26, S26 Plus Latest Leaks Reveal Major Camera Upgrades

New information has emerged regarding the camera and hardware specifications of the upcoming Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus, following earlier leaks about the Ultra model. The latest details, reported by SmartPrix, suggest that Samsung will maintain a familiar setup for its standard models, with only modest upgrades.

Camera Specifications

Contrary to earlier speculation about a new 50MP ultrawide sensor, the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus will reportedly continue to use the 12MP Sony IMX564 ultrawide camera found in previous generations. Firmware leaks indicate that the main camera will remain at 50MP, though Samsung is expected to introduce a newer ISOCELL S5KGNG sensor. Despite being new hardware, this sensor is the same size as the previous version, so users may not notice significant changes in performance.

The most notable camera upgrade comes in the telephoto department. Both phones are set to move from a 10MP to a 12MP telephoto lens, utilizing Samsung’s ISOCELL S5K3LD sensor. This matches rumors about similar improvements coming to the S26 Ultra, signaling a consistent telephoto upgrade across the lineup.

Battery and Video Features

According to the leaked firmware, the Galaxy S26 will have a 4300mAh battery, while the S26 Plus will feature a 4900mAh battery. These capacities are unchanged from the current S25 series.

On the software side, Samsung is expected to bring its Advanced Professional Video (APV) codec to the standard S26 models for the first time. Previously available only on the Ultra variant, the APV codec allows for 4K 60FPS video recording on both the front and rear cameras.

Launch Timeline

The Galaxy S26 series is anticipated to launch in February next year. Samsung may also introduce a slimmer model, reportedly even thinner than the S25 Edge, sometime in late 2026.
