The meeting to discuss changes to the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award has been postponed once again, sources told ProPakistani.
The session is now expected to be held on November 27.
Previously, the federal government had called a meeting with the provinces on November 18 to discuss the NFC Award. The Ministry of Finance had earlier scheduled the meeting for November 10, but postponed it at the request of the provinces.
This is the second time the date for the NFC Award meeting has been changed. According to sources, the Ministry of Finance rescheduled the meeting after provincial authorities requested a new date.
If the meeting goes ahead as planned without further delays, it could mark significant progress toward the eleventh NFC Award. Sources also revealed that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will be on board with the commission’s proposals for the new award.
Officials estimate that, even with rapid progress and regular meetings, it could take six to eight months to finalize the new National Finance Award.
