42 Umrah Pilgrims Die in Makkah-Madinah Bus Crash

At least 42 Indian Umrah pilgrims from Hyderabad are feared dead after a passenger bus travelling from Makkah to Madinah collided with a diesel tanker early Monday morning.

The crash occurred around 1:00 am PST in the Mufrihat area. The bus carried 43 passengers, and only one person is believed to have survived. The survivor has been shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Initial reports indicate the group included many families, with an estimated 20 women and 11 children among the travellers. Most passengers were reportedly asleep when the collision took place.

The pilgrims had completed their Umrah in Makkah and were en route to Madinah when the accident happened. Local sources have reported 42 fatalities, though officials have not yet released an official death toll.

Emergency teams are conducting recovery and identification operations, while authorities work to determine the cause of the crash.
