The Punjab government has approved a plan to create a 40-kilometer Green Zone along the railway track from Shahdara to Raiwind. The project aims to reduce pollution and provide new recreational spaces for residents.
The Parks and Horticulture Authority will invite tenders soon. PHA Managing Director Raja Mansoor Ahmed said the department will complete the project within one and a half years.
He confirmed that the Green Zone will include 30 new parks built along the railway corridor. Officials will develop parks ranging from 3 kanals to 80 kanals. They will install modern recreational facilities, including sports areas, fitness zones, and quality entertainment spaces.
The department will also improve landscaping to create a continuous green belt on both sides of the track.
