Karachi Police Arrests Hacker for Hacking Over 100 Women’s Social Media Accounts

Karachi Police have arrested a man accused of hacking over 100 women’s mobile data and social media accounts using suspicious links. The suspect, identified as Sameer, admitted that he purchased the hacking tools for only Rs. 5,000 from a seller based in Lahore.

Sameer revealed during interrogation that he specifically targeted women on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook. By sending the malicious links, he gained access to their devices, broke into their Google accounts, and downloaded their complete phone data, including private photos and videos.

According to investigators, the arrested man confessed to using the stolen content to manipulate women into becoming friends with him and later pressuring them to meet. With education only up to seventh grade and currently unemployed, Sameer said he learned these hacking methods through an online group. His last attempt, involving a girl from Ranchore Lines, led to his capture.

DIG South Asad Raza confirmed that a dedicated inquiry team will scrutinize the suspect’s laptop and phones with support from federal agencies and the Counter-Terrorism Department.

Eidgah SHO Hafeez Awan stated that more than 450 obscene videos were found in the recovered devices. Initial investigations suggest that Sameer may have victimized more than 100 women. The accused lives in Rabia City, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, with his mother and sister, both reportedly aware of his actions. Police also noted that he repeatedly altered his statements about his education during questioning.

Law enforcement officials highlighted that a brave young girl from Ranchore Lines played a crucial role in the arrest. After her phone was hacked, she informed her family, who involved the police. She later helped authorities set up a meeting with the suspect, allowing them to detain him and seize incriminating material on the spot.

SHO Awan shared that Sameer mostly preyed on women from middle-income households by pretending to assist them with online earning opportunities. Once he established trust, he sent them the infected links, accessed their private data, and then used it to intimidate and exploit them further.

Police are now cooperating with the FIA Cyber Crime Wing to expand the investigation. Authorities are also examining whether the stolen data was being shared or sold on the dark web.
