Karachi Experiences Coldest Morning of the Winter Season

Karachi recorded its coldest morning of the winter season on Sunday as temperatures dropped to 13°C. According to the Meteorological Department, the city’s minimum temperature fell by 3.4°C, marking the lowest reading so far this season.

The Early Warning Centre of the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecast that Karachi will remain cold and dry over the next three days. Northeasterly winds from Balochistan are expected to dominate during this period, and the minimum temperature may drop further to around 12°C.

The Met Office said fog is likely to form in the early morning hours across the plains of Sindh. Mohenjo Daro recorded the lowest temperature in rural Sindh at 7.5°C.

Lahore, meanwhile, experienced a cold and dry day on Sunday, with similar conditions expected on Monday. Meteorological officials said continental air is dominating most parts of the country, while a shallow westerly wave is affecting the far northern areas.

They forecast cold and dry weather nationwide, with very cold mornings and nights in hilly regions. Smog and patchy fog may form over the plains of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On Sunday, Skardu recorded the lowest temperature in the country at –11°C, while Lahore registered 6°C.
