Lucky Cement to Expand Congo Plant, Boosting Global Capacity to 23.15 Million Tons

Lucky Cement Limited announced plans to significantly expand its cement production capacity in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) through its joint venture with the Rawji Group, Nyumba Ya Akiba (NYA), as demand in the region continues to rise.

According to a notice sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, NYA will increase its current capacity from 1.31 million tons per annum (MTPA) to 2.91 MTPA by adding a fully integrated manufacturing line of 1.6 MTPA.

The expansion is aimed at meeting the growing cement demand in the DRC, driven by ongoing economic activity and a surge in construction projects. The company said the move will also help NYA maintain its market leadership and improve operational efficiency.
