Traffic police in Karachi have started issuing e-challans to all intercity buses entering the city in violation of terminal rules. Officials said the action targets buses that bypass Sohrab Goth Bus Terminal or Karachi Bus Terminal and drive directly into the city, creating congestion and safety risks.
A spokesperson for the traffic police said e-challans are being issued to every intercity bus found entering Karachi without following the designated terminal protocol. Authorities said strict legal action will also be taken against drivers who violate the rules, with additional penalties for repeat offenders.
The spokesperson noted that intercity buses must operate only from the two assigned terminals. Allowing them to enter the city, he said, increases traffic pressure, raises the chances of accidents, and adds to the daily difficulties faced by residents.
Transport operators have been instructed to use only the designated terminals and follow all traffic regulations. The spokesperson warned that failure to comply will result in further and more severe action.
