Commissioner Karachi Hassan Naqvi has approved a series of new measures to ease traffic congestion across the city, with a major push toward expanding the use of the E Challan system.
He made the decision while chairing a high level meeting on traffic management that included DIG Traffic Pir Mohammad Shah, the Municipal Commissioner of KMC, deputy commissioners, and other senior officials.
During the meeting, DIG Traffic briefed the forum that authorities have finalized a plan to issue E Challan notices to vehicles involved in illegal parking. He noted that illegal parking remains one of the primary causes of traffic disruption in several commercial zones of Karachi.
Officials also reviewed the condition of pedestrian bridges across the city. The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation reported that it has begun the first phase of rehabilitation, starting with repairs to 20 pedestrian bridges. Priority is being given to structures that pose safety risks to the public.
The meeting further examined issues such as roadside encroachments, mismanaged basement parking in commercial buildings, and congestion generated by shopping malls.
The Deputy Commissioner South informed the forum that encroachments have been cleared from the basement parking areas of 22 commercial buildings in the Saddar area. He said opening these spaces for proper vehicle parking has already helped reduce traffic pressure in the surrounding streets.

E- Challan should be reasonable, infrastructure of city roads, signals, ownership of vehicles must be done.
Fix the damn roads first. Get rid of these stupid potholes. Get rid of unnecessary as speed breakers and increase the speed limit to at least 80kms/h

Please provide parking space in commercial areas. In cantonment as well as in karachi city. Most of the places are being using by mafia and parking charges are being recover by them. No Govt official forbid them. Traffic department are insisting fine only. Poor people suffering no citizen rights protected.Kindly look into.

Parking facilities in Karachi are insufficient therefore e challans absolutely unjustified and yet another grave cruelty on the dying nation. Please do not do so.
The efforts of the Sindh government regarding e‑challans are a positive sign toward alleviating traffic congestion. In this regard, it is noted that shopkeepers on M. A. Jinnah Road are parking their vehicles and motorcycles on both sides of the road, which narrows the passage and leads to traffic jams. A modest increase in the presence of traffic police could resolve this issue.
I don’t see echallan in dha area at all. Clifton n faisal is the only area where it is implemented
near city Court full of illegal parking. take immediate action if you have courage.
Please try to clear traffic jam in Karachi every where, there would be any emergency case. Even we cannot reach hospital in any emergency cases due to traffic jam on daily basis.

Commissioner karachi may provide an email or whatsApp number enable public to pin point the area where people park their car which narrow the road. So that propmt action and fine may be impossed hence drivers may be alert. Moreivee wrong driving proplem should also be addressed.
