Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to ensure better gas supply for domestic consumers during the winter season, according to Petroleum Minister Ali Pervez Malik.
Speaking in the National Assembly during a call-attention notice, the minister said the prime minister instructed gas companies to provide uninterrupted supply from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. for household users.
He told lawmakers that the government aims to minimize the hardship typically faced by consumers during peak winter demand.
Malik said gas load-shedding has dropped significantly this year compared to last winter. He urged legislators to report areas facing low pressure so the ministry can resolve issues promptly.
The minister informed the house that gas companies received 80,000 to 90,000 complaints in November, with 70 to 80 percent related to OGRA’s jurisdiction. He added that authorities addressed most of those complaints within 36 hours.
Malik reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving service delivery for domestic consumers as demand rises with falling temperatures.
