The plan to shift Lahore Metro Bus stations to solar energy has reportedly been delayed due to a dispute between the Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning Agency (TEPA) and the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Engineering Wing.
Both departments want to act as the executing agency for the Rs. 2.40 billion project, delaying progress on converting 25 stations to a solar power system.
According to officials, TEPA argues that it handled major portions of the earlier Metro Bus construction and, therefore, the solar energy project also falls under its jurisdiction.
The organisation claims that the original design for the solar shift already exists in its records and that such upgrades naturally fall within its mandate.
On the other hand, the LDA Engineering Wing says it has been working on the project groundwork for a long time and should lead its execution.
This ongoing disagreement has left the project without a final decision, causing delays in moving the Metro Bus stations to solar energy.
Authorities said the final choice of executing agency will be made by the Transport Department and the Punjab Mass Transit Authority.
