Pakistan has dropped to 5th place, while India has fallen to 6th place in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table following New Zealand’s commanding victory over the West Indies in the second Test of their series.
New Zealand’s win lifted them from 6th to 3rd place in the WTC rankings. The Kiwis secured a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after dismissing the West Indies for just 128 in their second innings at Wellington, chasing a small target of 56 before tea on day three. This marked New Zealand’s first victory in the 2025-27 WTC cycle.

Jacob Duffy was the star with the ball, claiming his second five-wicket haul of the series. West Indies’ innings collapsed after morning setbacks, beginning with Brandon King’s run-out for 22. Shai Hope and Roston Chase soon followed, unable to withstand Duffy’s disciplined bowling.
Despite some resistance from Kavem Hodge and debutant Justin Greaves, the visitors could not recover. Duffy, supported by Michael Rae, wrapped up the innings, finishing with five wickets, while Rae claimed six on his Test debut.
In the run chase, openers Tom Latham and Devon Conway quickly reached the target, adding 26 runs before Latham’s dismissal. Conway remained unbeaten on 28 off 22 balls, with Kane Williamson finishing the match in style with 16 off 12 deliveries.
After the game, New Zealand captain Latham praised his team’s performance: “We got better as the game went on. Duffy’s five-wicket haul and contributions from substitutes were crucial. Mitch Hay also handled pressure brilliantly.”
The third and final Test of the series is scheduled to start on December 18 in Mount Maunganui.
