Strict New Security Rules Introduced for Private Schools in Rawalpindi

The Rawalpindi District Education Authority has enforced a comprehensive set of 14-point security measures for private educational institutions across the district, with immediate implementation.

District Education Authority Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Tariq warned that authorities will take strict action against any institution that fails to comply with the new safety requirements.

He directed private school administrations to complete all mandated security arrangements within two days and submit compliance reports within the given deadline.

Under the revised safety SOPs, private educational institutions must construct boundary walls at least eight feet high and install an additional two feet of barbed wire on top. Schools must also install CCTV cameras and ensure uninterrupted functionality through proper backup systems, including UPS support.

The directives require full CCTV coverage inside and outside school premises, the establishment of a functional control room, and the installation of operational metal detectors. Schools must appoint verified security guards who wear proper uniforms and carry authorised weapons.

The authority has also made it mandatory for schools to maintain a visitors’ register at entry points and display emergency contact numbers prominently. Institutions must place visible security instruction posters, mark emergency exits clearly, and conduct regular safety mock drills.

CEO Muhammad Tariq emphasised that authorities will show zero tolerance for negligence related to student safety. He instructed all school owners and principals to implement the SOPs without delay, warning that violations will trigger strict legal action.
