Karachi Finally Gets Double-Decker Buses

The Sindh government on Monday confirmed that newly imported double-decker buses for Karachi have arrived at the port and will begin operating in the city soon.

Sindh Senior Minister and Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon shared the update on social media, saying the transport department would place the buses on Karachi’s roads in the coming days.

He said the provincial government continues to take concrete steps to improve public transport and ease commuting problems in the port city.

The arrival of the double-decker buses follows earlier announcements made in November, when the Sindh government revealed plans to introduce both double-decker and new electric buses as part of broader transport reforms in Karachi.

Memon also reiterated that the government aims to modernize the city’s transport network by expanding the public bus fleet during the current financial year. He said authorities plan to add hundreds of new buses to existing routes to meet growing demand and reduce pressure on private transport.

In addition, the provincial government has been working on launching an electric vehicle taxi service to promote cleaner and more sustainable mobility in the city.
