The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) on Saturday said the New General Aviation Aerodrome in Lahore reached a key operational milestone with the successful landing of a twin-engine aircraft.
In a statement, the PAA said the operation marked an important step in demonstrating the aerodrome’s readiness to handle more complex aircraft operations. Twin-engine aircraft require higher safety standards, stronger runway support, advanced navigation systems, and coordinated air traffic management compared to single-engine planes.
The authority said the successful landing followed an earlier achievement in which the aerodrome handled a single-engine aircraft, reflecting steady progress in operational capability.
The flight was also boarded by PAA Director General Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed, which the authority described as a sign of institutional confidence in the facility’s safety and technical standards.
According to the PAA, the landing was carried out smoothly and in line with modern aviation requirements, highlighting the aerodrome’s preparedness, trained staff, and effective airside coordination.
Officials said the development strengthens Pakistan’s general aviation infrastructure and supports efforts to expand aviation services beyond major commercial airports.
