The Punjab government has approved a performance-based allowance for school teachers across the province to improve teaching standards and learning outcomes.
Under the new policy, teachers serving in primary, elementary, high, and higher secondary schools will receive a monthly allowance ranging from Rs5,000 to Rs12,500, based on their level and performance.
Officials said the initiative aims to reward effective teaching and motivate educators to deliver better academic results.
Allowance by School Level
According to the approved structure, primary school teachers will receive Rs5,000, elementary teachers Rs7,500, and high school teachers Rs10,000.
Teachers at the higher secondary level will receive the highest allowance of Rs 12,500.
Education Department’s View
The Punjab Education Department stated that the allowance targets teachers who demonstrate strong performance. Officials believe that financial incentives will boost motivation and directly improve student outcomes.
Education authorities added that recognizing and rewarding good teaching will help strengthen the overall quality of education across Punjab.
