Xiaomi has officially launched its flagship Xiaomi 17 Ultra in China, alongside a special Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition, which features a unique design and a mechanical zoom ring.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra boasts an impressive 6.9-inch M10 AMOLED LTPO display with a 2608 x 1200-pixel resolution. It supports a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and delivers a peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits, making it ideal for viewing even in bright conditions. The display is protected by Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0, ensuring durability.
The 17 Ultra is available in Black, Cool Smoke Purple, Starry Green, and White color options. Meanwhile, the Leica Edition introduces a dual-tone design inspired by the Leica M-series cameras, along with a knurling pattern on the frame and the iconic red Leica logo on the back. This edition offers a premium and unique aesthetic. On the front, the device features a 50MP selfie camera and an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner for enhanced security.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. It runs HyperOS 3.0, Xiaomi’s latest operating system, which incorporates several AI-driven features designed to enhance the user experience.
The phone also supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and satellite communication, ensuring high connectivity and versatility. Additional features include Hi-Res audio, stereo speakers, and a quad-mic array, which offer immersive sound and better audio capture for calls and recordings.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is equipped with a Leica-branded triple rear camera setup. The main camera is a 50MP 1-inch Light Fusion 1050L sensor, which incorporates LOFIC technology to improve image quality. The device also features a 200MP Samsung HPE 1/1.4-inch periscope telephoto camera with continuous optical zoom, as well as a 50MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, making it versatile for various types of photography.
The Leica Edition of the phone has the same camera specifications but offers added features. One of the key upgrades is the mechanical zoom ring, which allows users to adjust focal length, exposure, and white balance, offering a more professional touch for photography. Additionally, the Leica Moment modes provide unique settings in a 3:2 aspect ratio.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is powered by a 6,800mAh silicon-carbon battery, which supports 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, allowing for fast charging speeds. The device also offers 22.5W wired reverse charging, enabling users to charge other devices.
The pricing for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra varies depending on the storage configuration. The 12GB/512GB model is priced at $995, the 16GB/512GB model costs $1,065, and the 16GB/1TB model is priced at $1,210. For the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition, the 16GB/512GB model is priced at $1,140, and the 16GB/1TB version costs $1,280. Both variants will be available for purchase in China starting December 27, through Xiaomi’s official online store.
